67 Cinderellas Audition Form

AUDITIONS:

Auditions for 67 Cinderellas will be August 16th, 2025 from 12:30-4. Please be at the Elwood Opera House promptly.

All actors must present a monologue (below) to be considered for a speaking role. The monologue chosen does not limit you to a specific part, unless you indicate that in the packet.

PRACTICES: Rehearsals will begin Wednesday, August 20, promptly at 6:00 PM. Rehearsals will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings, with performances on November 13, 14 and 15 (including a matinee on the 15th).

FINALLY, if you state on your AUDITION APPLICATION that you would be willing to accept any role, please keep your word.  If you have a preferred role, please list it.  However, withdrawing from a production after the cast list has been announced will make it difficult for you to be cast in future productions.  Thanks for understanding!

CAST OF CHARACTERS:

Prince Dalliance—our, hero? Who is trying the patience of his father in his pursuit of the wearer of the glass slipper.

King Cornelius—the beneficent but not one to suffer fools gladly father of Dally.

Queen Carmen—who early on tells Dalliance that "the foundation of a strong relationship is built on communication".

And then there is a quintet of friends—Ebba, the gossip; Genevieve, the faithful; Violet, the charismatic one; Lira, honest and at times outraged; and Claudine, who is fully lovestruck;

The triplet ladies Bernadine, Emmeline and Marceline, conniving schemers all;

Cinderella's cruel stepmother Minerva and stepsisters Willimenie and Vilda;

Sirs Humphrey and Gladwin, and an assortment of palace guards;

A further assortment of damsels, maidens, sweethearts, aristocrats, commoners and others fill out this cast of comical characters.

There's a cameo by Sleeping Beauty, the Fairy Godparent, and of course, Cinderella. In all, there are 54 named roles, with lines numbering from about 10 to over 200.

Monologues:

Lark: “Of course it will fit. I know it will. It’s my shoe. I promise I will make you the happiest prince alive. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve dreamed of being a princess. I will be the most amazing princess and then someday the most amazing queen. Not that I am saying that your mom is old or anything. But things do happen. Not that I’m threatening the queen. I just meant---I’m sorry. Am I talking too much? I talk too much when I get nervous. It’s just that I’ve never met a real live prince before and I don’t want to say the wrong thing or mess upor......

Archbishop Theobald: “Matrimony is a most honorable estate and is not to be entered into lightly or rashly, but respectfully and solemnly. If there be reason why these two should not be joined in marriage, speak now or forever hold your peace”.

King Cornelius: “Lords and ladies, dukes and duchesses, earls and empresses, loyal subjects of our most prosperous kingdom. With the upmost pleasure, we gather together to celebrate the wedding of my son, Prince Dalliance to Princess Priscilla of Pendlebrooke Palace”.

Sleeping Beauty: “A shoe? Really?? That’s your big romantic plan? What a preposterous way to pick a partner. Well, good luck with that. I better get back to my tower and go back to bed. I don’t want to miss my one chance at true love. The first stranger to kiss unconscious on-hundred-and-sixteen-year-old me gets to marry me. Now that’s romantic. Good night.”

Deja: “Those dreaded pirates kidnapped me and kept me prisoner on their pirate ship for a fortnight, but I heroically escaped, jumped overboard and swam straight here to finally put an end to these wrong weddings, try on the shoe and reunite you with your one and only true love, me”.

Prince Dalliance: “You’re my best friend, the only girl I’ve ever felt like I could really talk to. Really be myself around. All the times we’ve laughed together. Cried together. The hopes and dreams we’ve shared. All these years, my soulmate has been right in front of me, but I never realized it until now. I want to stare into your beautiful eyes for the rest of eternity. Oh my precious, you will make me the happiest man alive!”

The audition panel will be looking for comedic timing, the ability to project and provide character flavor.

This show is very fast-paced, with characters delivering their lines one after another. The ability to keep up the timing is one of the secrets to the humor of the story.

Rehearsal Schedule:
Please review the schedule carefully and indicate any conflicts you have on your audition form. Anyone missing a performance date or dress rehearsal will not be considered for a named role but may still audition.
